Product: Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 EX DG HSM Lens (Canon Fit) Lens
Ive had this lens for approx 18months and use it mainly for wildlife photography. When first purchased I found that the lens was back focusing but after having it calibrated to my camera body (canon 40d) by Sigma UK it has been excellent. Photographing birds it is very sharp and you can pick out every feather. I have used this lens with tele converters (canon 1.4 and Sigma x2)but I have not been overly impreessed by the results. If you are using it for this type of photography and can get close enough to your subject to fill the frame the results are truly wonderful. The images are much on a parr to my mates canon 300 f2.8 L and over £1,000-00 cheaper. I wouldnt hesitate to recomend this lens but bear in mind that you might have to have it callibrated (which would be done under warranty).

Fantastic lens.Use it for football and wildlife and its great. Takes both the 1.4 and x2 TCs very well. Not light, but you expect that at f2.8. The zoom is fantastic and theres nothing like it.
I bought the Non-Dg version and its worth every penny.
Highly recommended.

What a disappointment this lens turned out to be. After months of dithering which lens to get, I took the plunge and ordered this one.
As soon as I started to use it I thought there was something wrong with it. It struggled to focus correctly on anything, even though I got focus confirm in the camera. When it did focus, the quality was poor.
I tested it against my Sigma 50-500mm, shooting at the same time, and the 50-500mm wiped the floor with the 120-300mm. 100% shots in focus, against only 25% for the 120-300. Better definition and clarity as well. For a supposed top of the range lens this one was utter rubbish.
It soon went back to where it came from. The seller insisted the lens wasnt faulty, well Ive got 50 shots to prove it was!
I sent some shots to Sigma for their opinion, the sound of silence from them was deafening.
No more Sigma lens for me.
