Product: Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM Lens
Although I own the 100-400 Is and prefer to use it for its reach I cannot bring myself to part with the 70-300 IS. As sharp in the centre as the L what it lacks in build in makes up for in image quality. Often get stuck in the bag if I need a light lens for days out.
A bargain lens for any not needing the longer Teles.

Product: Canon EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS USM Lens
I have just traded in my old EF 75-300 f4-5.6 IS USM to get one of these.
Plus Points.
The focus is faster.
The IS is the 3 stop version and is quieter.
IQ better; sharper and far less CA (if any).
Negative Points
The zoom setting is prone to creep, ie zoom to 300mm, lift the camera and the lens slides in; worse with the hood fitted. This is on a used version, I'm told it's better when new.
The lens extends quite a bit and rotates on focus; not a big problem for me but for some it could be.
Overall a worthwhile upgrade..
